For the first suggestion you made, I’m not sure if you’re aware but shooting through one ways without them being open is against the rules anyways

theres a rule that states where if you shoot someone who is raiding, they have to be able to see you and shoot back while you shoot at them

Sadly, that isn't true. Rule 10 only states that "Raiders must be able to shoot back at you from wherever you shoot them from (No feet shooters).
    image.png.9bcf85b0846e91af875540619607bb30.png
This doesn't mean that raiders have to be able to see back, only to shoot back. The shoot back part is referring to feet shooters, where the raiders are completely unable too shoot back, such as in this scenario.

  2. 1: Block prop "models/props_c17/gate_door01a.mdl."

Gate_door01a has lots of spots on it that don't act like a normal prop. Players are able to use their physgun through these props.
    unknown.png

They are also able to shoot through these spots.
    image.png.94052bb86ae0a88621d62dd9fabd8e92.png

These props can be materialized and made into one-way vision props.
    unknown.png

Once made into a one-way, these props can still be shot through, allowing for players to shoot at other players on the other side, without the other players being able to shoot back.
    unknown.png

Parts of gate_door01a cannot be picked up by the physgun nor by the toolgun, so it would be possible to propblock specific areas of the map without any staff being able to move or remove the prop. The parts are also not picked up by the plugin that shows which player owns a prop, thus making it impossible for staff to locate the owner of the prop to punish.

    2: Block prop "models/props_c17/gate_door02a.mdl."

    3: Unblock prop "plate075x16"

Plate075x16 is currently blocked from being placed by normal players, and the reason for it being blocked is unknown, so I will attempt to disprove any reason for it to be blocked.
It's possible the prop was blocked so that very long plate075 props couldn't be used, but that wouldn't make sense, as plate075x24 and plate075x32 are unblocked, even though they are both longer than plate075x16 (see below image).
    unknown.png?width=1440&height=454

Maybe Jouaram doesn't want any of the platex16 props to the allowed, but that also wouldn't make sense, as almost every single other platex16 prop isn't blocked, and the ones that are blocked would be blocked regardless, since they are plate8x16, plate16x16, plate 16x24, and plate16x32, and those plate types are all already blocked. All platex24 props are blocked, all platex32 props are blocked, and the only platex8 prop that isn't blocked is plate8x8.

Perhaps plate075x16 is the best propclimb prop. While that is correct (see below image), since platex16 props are the best prop to propclimb up to where many sits occur, as previously mentioned, all other platex16 props are unblocked, allowing propse like plate1x16 to be used for the exact same purpose.
    image.png.2fb1f43ad7e644b84bbf67a8dc5ed651.png

    4: Unblock the wheels

Nearly every single wheel prop is blocked. The only wheel props that aren't banned are models/props_phx/wheels/drugster_back.mdl., models/mechanics/wheels/wheel_smooth2.mdl., models/xqm/airplanewheel1big.mdl, and models/props_wasteland/wheel03b.mdl.(see below image), and all the rest are blocked. 89 out of the 93 total wheel props are blocked, which is a shame, because wheels make excellent roleplay props.

  3. -1

RPGs and miniguns shouldn't be able to be immediately holstered as soon as you know you're about to die. Giving yourself a perm minigun for $500,000 is just stupid, and don't act like that's not what everyone did, that's exactly what they did, we both know it*. Let me stress this point: Temporary guns should and are supposed to be one time use items. You shouldn't be able to abuse them over multiple lives.

*This wasn't meant to come off as hostile, it was more of a "we both know exactly what everybody did" in a joking manner.

    8 minutes ago, Jouaram said:

They're not intended to be permanent weapons.

When you can instantly put your $500,000 weapon in your inventory when any type of threat comes your way, it essentially becomes a permanent weapon.

They can be made stronger to compensate but honestly I feel like they're strong enough, even for the price.

I'm not gonna close this suggestion as I want to hear the feedback from others and yourself.

Everything Jouaram said here is exactly why those specific items shouldn't be holstered.

As much as I bitch about updates, and what's overpowered and what's not, Jouaram really hit the nail on the head with this one. I had never considered how just holstering your gun constantly gives you a permanent, as I don't use either the temp RPG or minigun, until now, but this really was abusable and I'm glad he chose to remove the ability to abuse holstering on the two most powerful weapons.

  4. As a surprise to no one, Charles is making another suggestion to bring back old Retribution addons.

Describe your suggestion: Bring back the valuable bars for money. They existed on Ret and were a small but useful consumable. Back on Ret (and this is going completely by memory so I'm likely to be wrong) they were as follows:
    10mil - Silver Bar
    50mil - Gold Bar
    100mil - Platinum Bar

Obviously, these numbers wouldn't work on this new server, as the richest person only has about 50mil, but I think the concept would be great for the server. I suggest them to be obtainable through the !unbox store, directly just as bars, not as unboxable crates. Yes, there used to be an NPC on Ret where you could buy the bars, but I think that it would be more useful if the bars went to the player's unbox inventory, so they could be used in trading instead of regular cash. This would somewhat give a solution to the bug where money rarely shows up in the trading menu, ruining possible trades, since one player can't tell what they're getting in the trade.
I also suggest, as an addition to the bars, that the mugging SWEP be buffed, but only if the valuable bars be added as well. The mug SWEP currently only robs $4,000 - $5,000 per mug (though I believe it scales with the balance of the victim), and has a necessary cooldown, but takes so long to be reused that the mugger has a better chance to make money by just getting their paycheck. I suggest that the mug SWEP steals between 35% - 60% of the cheapest bar, encouraging more players to carry their money in their bank, and punishing them if they don't. I suggest that when the bars are in a player's !unbox inventory,  their viewable bank account is changed to show how much money they are carrying on them.
As a separate (much worse) suggestion, I suggest to make the mug SWEP visual, and players holding it can be KOS by any other player, not just by the Law Enforcement. I can definitely see problems arise with this suggestion, as it could lead to numerous RDM tickets, but if the mug SWEP is buffed too much, it could be solved simply by making the SWEP itself KOS. This suggestion is stupid, but I do think that the mug SWEP should be visible, regardless of if it's illegal, letting possible mugging victims more aware of what could happen.

Link To Relevant Addons (If Any): I couldn't find the addon, but I'm sure some of the higherups remember it.

How will this improve the quality of Aether?: If all three suggestions are accepted, it will:
1: "Solve" the issue of money not showing up in the !unbox trades.
2: Give players more denominations of money to negotiate with.
    3: Diversify the !unbox store.
    --------
4: Make the mug SWEP more practical.
5: Make being mugged more of a problem for unaware players.
6: Encourage players to store their money instead of constantly having it on their person.
7: Encourage players to be more cautious of specific jobs, giving a more realistic roleplay experience.
8: Encourage muggers to scope out rich, oblivious players before mugging, also giving a more realistic roleplay experience.
    --------
9: Let future mugging victims attempt to escape muggers.
10: Make "Mug SWEPS out is illegal" a viable law.

  5. -1
I don't want people touching my guns. If I die, my guns better die too.
Also, the mayor can buy packages for the PD that give the PD several temporary guns that refresh on death. If a PD member were to get spawncamped a few times, there would be a pile of dozens of guns on the floor for anyone to grab. I don't think that should be possible.

  6. Describe your suggestion: A lawboard has been in the PD jail for a while and it blocks the usage of half the stairs. Many PD dupes are include walls on those stairs that cannot be used since the lawboard blocks one side. I like the idea of the sign, as it can show arrested players what law they broke, but it's annoying that it blocks the stairs. I suggest either elevating the sign, so it no longer blocks the stairs, or making it nocollided, like the lawboard placed by the Mayor.

    unknown.png?width=742&height=427

How will this improve the quality of Aether?: The PD will be able to have more sophisticated dupes, and the jail stairs won't be just one player wide.

we discussed that I don't have to take every sit if im either in an rpg situation or building.

You don't take sits, ever.  You can't make the excuse that every second of every day you're building, that's just a lie. You spend more time MRDMing than you do taking sits. Also, what the hell is "an rpg situation," do you mean the times when you mass RDM with an RPG, Because you do that a lot.

    Really? Reeeally?

Are you trying to pass this off as "accidentally killing one person in a crowd"

Majority of these complaints were already handled though, and Gibs hasn't been playing at all - he hopped on for a literal hour mostly AFK and then gets a report posted on him.

There's a lot I want to say here so I apologise if I skip over something or if a sentence doesn't make sense.

I wasn't reporting Gibs because he didn't take sits for an hour. I made the video a while ago, but by the time I had finished getting everything I needed and editing it, Gibs had already not joined the server for several days (I procrastinated the editing like all hell since it was a pain in the ass). I wasn't going to submit my report on a person who hadn't even joined the server for a few days, that would drag in more confusion and misunderstanding, as well as much more criticism that I would have to respond to, to clarify myself, so I just didn't make the report until I saw Gibs online again. I figured, if I saw Gibs online, and he had changed since the last time I saw him, I wouldn't make the report. Believe it or not, I want Gibs to be a good staff member. If I saw Gibs taking sits and being a responsible staff member, I'd be happy that he had a change of heart, I would've privated the video, and moved on.

I reread the paragraph above to make sure it makes sense and I realised it barely did so I'm gonna try to write down what my thought process was.

"I made the video, but Gibs hasn't been online for several days, so if I make the report it will be confusing. I will wait until I see him online and being irresponsible next before I post the report on the forums. If the next time I see him, he's being a good staff member, I will throw out the report because I will have no use for it."

I had also gotten unnecessarily upset at Trevor/Beth for something as staff member, and said some pretty cruel things. This made me step back and contemplate if I really wanted to upload the Gibs video because of how angry I had gotten.

    image0.jpg

This also delayed when I made my report, as I didn't like being such an asshole to Trevor, and wasn't sure if I was overreacting to what Gibs was doing as well.

Gibs didn't come online (at the same time as me, at least) for over a week. I made the report once I saw that he was back to not being a helpful staff member.

    We can agree to disagree

I'm not trying to disagree with you. I like all of the addons that you listed, and can see them being used to improve the server (except for the ladder that's the one thing I disagree with). I don't think that new tools should never be added because they can be abused, I just see the dangers in these tools for the server.

Also, I hope you read my segment about specific tools and items being disabled because they can be abused, that was an the main point I was trying to get across and I hope you considered my objective for that paragraph.

In closing, I like your suggestions, though we have different ideas on how they should be implemented. Your final line seemed like you wanted this back and forth of comments to end, and I can't blame you, this has been going on for a while, so feel free to not respond to this if you'd rather we leave the conversation here.

  10. 23 minutes ago, Dildozer said:

it is as if you didn't read a single part of the suggestion before complaining about everything lol

Okay maybe I didn't read every one, but if these tools were to be added I would assume they would need a purpose more than just higherups being able to use them. GMod servers with very few addons get popular because new players don't have to wait hours to download every plugin before joining. Yes, I know that small toolgun mods like these won't have much of an impact on download time, but my point is that if these were to be added, they would need to have a use more than just for admins to change the map periodically, and if more people than just admins have access to these tools, it will be chaotic.

    36 minutes ago, Dildozer said:

So taking away such an amazing tool for builders just because minges could use it when they'll minge either way seems very dumb.

It is very dumb for a useful tool to be disabled because of minges abusing it, yes, but it wouldn't be the first time. I can't speak for Jouaram, but I suspect the reason we're currently unable to align our props with the precision tool is because of minges or abuse. That's an amazing tool, and builders are unable to use it. The rope tool is also disabled, as are all vehicles, several large plastic props, all ragdolls, and all dynamic props*. Most of those would be very convenient for builds but are disabled. Not to mention everything related to Team Fortress is disabled, which has many convenient props.

You're right, my arguments against the ladders and map retexturizer are baseless, since your post included them only being usable by Superadmin+, I was wrong not to read your descriptions for those.
I'm sorry for some of my points being inaccurate, I truly do like these addons, and would love to be able to use them in the server, I just fear how they'll be abused if accessible to everyone.

*I'm not sure if this is right, I don't remember what the prop type I'm thinking of is called.

  11. 14 minutes ago, Fakie said:

But, as well charles, you're also very mingy, you just go around, saying you have duped items etc.
You literally call out every staff member for "abusing" you're just blatantly annoying.

Yes, I am very mingy, but I didn't use Gibs minging as my point for the report. If my proof or reason for complaint was Gibs minging, then I would be quite the hypocrite, but that's not what I did. I used screenshots of Gibs MRDMing and blocking the entire fountain (while not a hobo) for my proof.
I've never made any other report on a staff member on the forums. I joke around with the other staff members in VC about them abusing noclip, if, for example, they noclip while in their base.
I've mentioned staff abusing their power one time in the Discord text, but that was me joking with Lemon, as I brought up the time he made a mistake on Ret that was funny.image0.jpg?width=414&height=427

These weren't reports and they weren't calling other staff members out. If these didn't seem like jokes, then I apologize, my sense of humor annoys a lot of people, it's something I'm trying to improve, but at most what I said were jokes that didn't land.

    18 minutes ago, Fakie said:

This is very much with no context

I rarely see gibz doing any of this

As for these points, the screenshots were taken between November 20th to December seventh. I can't check when you were online in-game during those times, but basing off your Discord activity (yes, I know it isn't the most reliable source, but I don't have any others) you only made one message between the time I took those screenshots, so I believe this was the time when you were away for a few weeks.

    image0.jpg?width=401&height=427

As for the screenshots being out of context, yes, they are out of context. If I had the context, or, hell, even remembered the context, I would've mentioned it. I can't say that the screenshots don't need to have context to be proof, that would be stupid, but I think that 16 kills with an RPG over 50 minutes on the same few people, along with the knowledge that he would spawncamp with the SLAM should raise some eyebrows. Yes, I know I RDMed people with the slam. I got banned for that. Gibs has not gotten banned for that. Yes, I know, I have an RPG that I kill people with, but at least I learned my lesson from the SLAM and have yet to get in trouble with my rocket launcher. I am aware I am reporting Gibs for quite a few things, some of which I have done, however, I have actually received punishments for what I have done, while Gibs got promoted after being reported for the same thing*. Also, are we forgetting the time I got banned for MRDA because the staff member didn't consider the context of my arrests**?

*Yes I know he didn't get promoted for killing people with the SLAM but the sentence fit better that way, and he did get his promotion a day after I made my first report.
**I wasn't referring to you here even though it seemed like I was, sorry if it's confusing.

  12. Just now, Jouaram said:

You only gave him 1 hour before deciding that he hasn't improved? Wtf..

I watched staff members take sits for an hour as he just flew around the map. He took 0 sits, teleported 0 people, punished 0 people, and did 0 things to help the server. Yes, making the assumption that Gibs couldn't have improved after an hour of watching him is a bit hasty, and I'll admit that I should've monitored him more before coming to any conclusion, but once I had finished making the video above I told myself that I wouldn't make the report on Gibs until I saw him being an irresponsible staff member one last time before posting.

  13. Dozer, you're great, but I'm gonna have to -1 this.

These are all good tools, but no matter how beneficial they CAN be, you've also got to consider how they will be abused.
Take it from a minge, every one of these would be exceptionally easy to minge with.

Smart Weld: This would be nice to use, and I would love having access to this, but the server already has incredibly loose propclimb protection, and this would just make it worse. Also, people slamming props into the ground to make an earthquake is already a pain in the ass, so being able to do the same with dozens of props would just magnify the problem. Propblock is also incredibly annoying, so being able to move both your camera and your walls to propblock with into someone's base would be abused like all hell. (This plugin would also make the server even more vulnerable to being lagged with moving props but let's just keep that between you and me)

Ladders: No. These could be used for good, but it most likely won't. Currently, the only way to disrupt a sit would be either to propclimb or grapple up, and considering the fact that propblock is very obvious, and only very few people have grapples, this would just enable more people to interrupt sits. It would also be possible to glitch yourself into places you shouldn't be, such as other player's bases, or even the skybox.

Map Retexturizer: Assuming it would be limited so players couldn't make the entire map a cancer material, I can't see any practical use for this outside of making bases that are almost impossible to distinguish from the world.

LED Signs: This one seems the least mingy, as long as all of the signs are nocollided, but it's already possible to place a textscreen which says anything as offensive as you want, then precision tool pushing its anchor point into a world prop, making it unidentifiable by any staff member, so I don't think that adding another form of textscreen would go too well. From what I saw in your demonstration, it doesn't seem too easy to make the sign look cancerous, but I assure you someone (most likely myself) would figure out how to make it incredibly annoying.

  14. 6 hours ago, Noodles said:

I would say most of this is old and without context

You make a good point, most of this is from a little while ago. I'll admit, I made this report later than I should have, but put off posting it as I wasn't sure if Gibs was going to improve after my first report. I hoped he would. He's been staff for a while and has quite a bit of power in the server. I saw him on for about an hour not doing anything. I watched the chat fill up with people complaining about MRDM, you and the other staff members with their hands full, trying to settle dozens of sits, while Gibs did nothing. It was the first time I had seen him on since I had made my first report, and decided that I still didn't think he deserved to be staff. The first seven screenshots were from around late November, while the kill logs all happened on December seventh between 6:00 and 6:50 PM. So, yes, most things here are just under two weeks old, but they still display what Gibs usually does on the server.

-1: Staff app seems fairly rushed, some fairly incorrect answers.  #4 could have more detail, #5 should be more specific, and #8 just isn't a good answer. No forum activity before this post. You've only been around for a few days, so I don't think you've got that much experience with the rules.

+1: You have a bit over 1000 hours on GMod, so I think you've got a good idea of the game and its functions, and you've got 10 workshop submissions, which vary in quality, but show that you really do have interest in the game. I've only seen you around for a few days, but if I'm not mistaking you for someone else, you seem friendly and someone who follows the rules. Granted, Kaiser seemed cool when he was new, and I wasn't the toxic bastard I am today for the first few months I was on Ret, so, people do change, but I hope you stay friendly

To conclude, I don't think you should be staff just yet. You do not have the time invested in this server or knowledge of its rules just yet, which is reflected in your application, but you do seem to have the attitude I wish more staff did. I discourage you to re-apply in a week, maybe in two or three, when you're better known around the community and have a sizable understanding of the server.

  16. The Bug You're Experiencing: After joining the server, for the first few minutes, the player list is bugged out.

Can you reproduce the bug, if so, how?: Joining the server and holding down tab.

Examples of the bug (images, videos):image.thumb.png.b985e867dec66a297dc009409df5a815.png

Look at the player count at the top, which says 18, but the menu only shows eight online players There's no rhyme or reason to who it shows. I've had this happen to me every time I've joined the server and it's always inconsistent. This isn't something that really affects the server, but it's a pain in the ass when I'm trying to see who's online.

  17. Describe your suggestionBartender was a fun job, for people who just wanted to RP and not deal with making lots of money or defending a base. The max should be 1 or 2, and it should be able to spawn things like liquor and food, that would heal you. That way, if a player doesn't have a syringe or a vape, they can heal from the bartender.

Link To Relevant Addons (If Any): Don't know of any

How will this improve the quality of Aether?: It would add a fun job for the players who just want to relax and have a fun time with RP. The bartender was a job back on Ret and I remember people really liking it.
