Most of you know who I am already and I've decided to quit. staffing has lot its charm to me, used to be a great pass-time and now i'm trying to get a real job with pay so I think before I head out ill give some tips and advice.
What everyone should know:
1. most people break rules past 12PM EST so if your gonna staff prepare to have to deal with that sometimes
2. Staffing is not easy, nobody really understands how difficult it is and only sees the bad, some of us really try to be great staff but don't make it far.
3. Listen to your higher-ups. just a suggestion.
4. If you are gonna staff make sure you attend the meetings, you miss out on a lot of stuff you wouldn't see/know then you make one mistake and now you have 5 new complaints you have to respond to.
5. People will not enjoy having someone as a moderator/admin if you are rude. nobody likes a suck-up either but that from experience.
and lastly 6. you get payed in aether bucks, I think at a certain point there should be more of a incentive than just exposure. I think of it like this, exposure is worthless, people need a reason to do stuff.
what I would like to see happen to aethernetwork in the future:

Look, I really don't wanna tread on with this issue but if I have to I will, during this event I was very unsure of what to do, as rules when raiding (either as police and thief are very different) firstly, YES they can raid back-to-back as long as it was on different places (that I do apologize for) secondly, any cops that had interfered with one raid (and either lost or won), CAN come back if you decide to raid ANOTHER base. I also was in a sit when I had unnarrested them (because I was still talking to them and they came back to my base and raided while I was asking about what I should do to my higher-ups) ((last time I checked, that's not... allowed..?)). He also was giving me loads of shit after the fact too, oh his mentioned NLR incident(s) (YES there was two) he also was very vulgar and loud towards staff and other players, when I asked about it later, they told me it was toxicity and they had no reason to get that upset over something that small (that could have been easily fixed if you were nicer about it). When I had offered to fix it they had also declined it... so... I don't really know what you want me to do, I offered to make things right again and you just kicked me to the curb, making a report because you refused to respect staff on a DarkRP server is kind of lowballing the integrity of many of its' player base. When I had told about this later I was pretty much told what I wrote here. Don't hate the player, hate the game. (attached is a DM from Jouaram, when I told him EXPLICITLY what happened in the Logs (FROM WHAT I COULD SEE). If this really does continue like wildfire then i gladly want a toxicity warn, because you have no idea how some people respond to situations like that.

All warns are current, and when warned with a advert go get out, you are not allowed to attack me unless if I hit you back. if you have issues with other players, make a sit! don't complain on the forums for a common self defense scenario, I told you to leave, you hit me, since I never hit you, that makes it rdm.

you didn't punch someone in a sit, you were called for a rdm sit (the person wanted the warn to be given), we have to account for all warns (unless they are removed/ excused /accidental). with your "degree" of warns I had to put 3 days for the punishment. I would probably make sure that next time you don't hit people for no reason.

look, don't get me wrong you seem nice its just that sometimes you need a little kick in the right direction, when I was staff I needed it too. I even almost didn't become staff entirely, don't take this personally, and probably by tomorrow this will all be over and you can enjoy Aethernetwork to its fullness again.

You should know that you are not allowed to base in a actual base with illegals as a Dwarf since it causes fairness problems. Seeing how it's much harder to shoot a dwarf then a normal player model. Dwarfs are only allowed to have pretty much RP only bases in the street and are treated as hobo's.
Then you should call staff / get proof to show if you see them with raidables defended somebody's base since it's not allowed.
Reckless past could be an indication of what is to come in the future seeing how that's pretty much all we have to show if you're a problemsome player or not.

I had little to none previous warns that was active and either way I grew as a person and understood more because I know I was being reckless the last few times.
King, warns are the TOTAL amount you have, it does not matter if they say they are not active, we count the total, if we counted the active warns do you have any idea how many mrdm people would get off Scott free? and it is bothering someone obviously if they made a sit about it. it is rdm because you killed someone for being in your base (Which is not allowed), giving those two factors if your gonna make a sit please please PLEASE make sure you include EVERYTHING that happened and not just the chunk your pissed abt. Also, sometimes staff doesn't give 2 shits about dwarves basing as long as they don't do shit like you had done(they also tend to base NOT IN A BUILDING (LIKE IN THE DAMN STREET)), I even refunded the guy because he lost approx. 200k worth of guns. I would love to see you continue this and make more bs points without the full story (and according to handbook I COULD have banned(Like, forever.) you as it is referred under the punishment guidelines.)

I had banned king for RDM, as he was basing as a dwarf (with a party), he then killed the hitman, in the base which he cannot do, I do apologize if this wasn't the right punishment but I felt that this was the correct punishment for this situation. if you do want some sort of action you do need evidence, I spoke with you for 3 minutes and you even understood what I was saying so... how was this unfair? I told you what was gonna happen, I did not just ban you outright I always take pride in my position so I treat it, and others with respect. Yet again if you want we could figure something out, and yet again. (Oh yeah, you had previous warns so, the 2-days was the most just for me as the longest I've seen for your punishments was one day.(so I increased it)

All you really did was AFK on the server and barley contributed before you left as well, such as not taking many ticket, playing a completely different game while you were on the server, etc.

If you let the long range rule apply to pd raids (would be very stupid) then mayors hiding outside of pd become immortal. Pd raids are meant to be more of an event where players try to overpower the government. Announcing it could mean either a raid OR a revolt against the mayor. (We could change the rules so that there’s a difference between the two but currently they’re the same.)
Besides, at most you would get out of this is maybe a verbal warning on Barack but considering I don’t think the rule should apply there, I don’t think he did anything wrong at all. You said he bullied you so if you gave proof of that there could be punishment for harassment but if not, I don’t see anything coming from this. This report seems petty and unnecessary. You’re reporting an rdm x1 (if they consider that rule to apply) on the forums which is weird to me.
Sorry, i was not really sure on this but if king really needs be, ill put a rdmx1 in, but i think its not really worth it at this point.

DarkRP Rule Questions

- List 3 default Laws of The Land: 1. Do not harm other citizens unless it is in self defense. 2. Do not steal or break into peoples homes. 3. Money printers/drugs are illegal.

- A player is refusing to co-operate with you in a staff sit, how do you handle the non-cooperative player?: It depends on how they are reacting, If they are spamming in chat during the sit, then mute, if its micspam then mute their vc, and if its just overall being hostile (killing, running away) I would either freeze them, strip their weapons, freeze using phys, or jail them, and if they simpily just disconnect it normally results in a ban (consisting of 1-4 hours on first offence)
- You see another staff member abusing their power (Give an example of a staff abusing and how you would handle it/who you would contact): If I were to see DEVGRU abusing his tmod rank, I would post a staff complaint on the aether network website with valid evidence, and I would also tell any higher ups or Jouaram (if it is serious)
- A player is excessively RDMing/RDAing and breaking NLR (What is RDM/RDA and NLR? How do you determine if a player is breaking any of these?): If someone is RDMing, RDM is what you use to describe someone on DarkRP who is killing other players for no reason, the first obvious sign is people posting using @ {text} in chat. Another sign would be the player excessively killing for no reason(in public or in killfeed), The last sign I would look for is the kill logs, if I see that nobody shot him, causing him to kill, then I would look for how many people he has killed so far( it is RDMx1 for each player he has killed).NLR, the lesser known is short for new life rule. The whole point of NLR is and as follows; If you die you cannot return to the area you have died or interact with the person who killed you, unless they hit, shoot, or fight you. This is fairly easy to figure out, I would look in logs, or killfeed to see if someone dies at the hands of someone, then they die to the person they just killed, finding where they were is a bit more difficult because I would need to find where they died, and approximate the range in which it's considered NLR (I normally go off of vc distance). With that people will also not really make complaints too much but if someone makes one then you normally would do all of the other steps, to confirm it. RDA, is just when someone randomly arrests someone else for no reason, this one, being the easiest to find would just be to look for people getting arrested in quick succession, I would also look for (like all of the others) for any complaints via @ {text}
