  1. No.

what people spent is irrelevant, there was no promises of it not getting nerfed. If you paid for it and it got nerfed that's life.

How it was before is simply illogical and so extremely pay to win. Having new players get shit on by something they can not obtain is not reasonable

  2. -1

-I don’t really recall ever seeing you on the server or interacting with you

try and gain a bit of a presence in the community through forum, in-game, and discord activity. That’ll give you the best shot at people backing you up to staff.

as for your application itself, your answers could use some work/tweaking. A lot of your answers are in the right direction but not exactly correct.

  3. This might get denied unless you edit it into this format:

    Player/Staff Complaint {LAYOUT} - Player/Staff Reports - AetherNetwork.gg

Also for the situation, It's a hard one. Raiding a base after getting information of where it is located, if it has raidables, and seeing the layout inside, is a really shitty thing for a staff member to do.

However, I don't know if It's really considered abusive, more of just a shitty thing for staff to do.

With how many sits staff take, it becomes pretty unrealistic to expect them not to interact with ANY of the bases/players they've interacted with during sits.

I'm not sure where I stand on this one. I definitely understand your frustration and agree It's pretty bad for staff to noclip in your base, see your layout, if you have raidables/where they are, and then raid you very shortly after but I'm not sure how this would be resolved / prevented.

It's kind of a non-written rule that I've always followed when I staff where if I discovered someone's base or raidables from a sit, I leave it alone and pretend I never found it, but I think that's more of a choice the staff member has to make themselves. It would be near impossible to make that a rule or standard for staff to follow because at the end of the day only they know what they saw / why they raided it / what their intentions were.

  4. Describe your suggestion

Increase the bail cost from $12,000 to AT LEAST anywhere between $50,000-$100,000 per person.

Also, when a person pays bail, the arresting officer should be rewarded for it. Even just 50% of the money paid in bail going to the officer would be great.

How will this improve the quality of Aether?:

I somehow managed to arrest 5 thieves who all were raiding. After all of that effort, someone instantly bailed them all out and it cost them just around $50,000 to do it. $50k is basically NOTHING for 1 person let alone FIVE people getting bailed considering how much money people make. When people are running around with dozens of millions and it only costs $50k to bail FIVE people out, that is an issue.

It is demotivating to see everyone you arrest instantly get bailed out for practically no cost, not to mention the bail they pay doesn't even go to you whatsoever. You just lose as PD.

  5. If Jouaram wants a money making job that is actually fun and not just mindlessly afking or doing the same exact thing for hours on end, he needs to include player interaction in the process.

EX: Hitman, Gun Dealer, and PD are probably the most fun jobs to play. They all make really bad money but what makes them fun is the player interaction involved. You get to RP and have fun with other people.

Now take the opposite, and the jobs that make the most money have 0 player interaction thus making you miserable if you want to make money.

Solution is combining the two. Add something that entices player interaction and sparks RP scenarios that also provides a decent cash flow intake.

I've also suggested in the past capitalizing on these jobs like Hitman. Such as rewarding additional money/XP if it is a kill from behind, a headshot, ranged kill, ETC.

For PD, you could get a bonus if there are a low amount of deaths recently committed by non PD. Or you could get a bonus for making 3 arrests within 15 minutes. (Keep that number low around 3 so that people aren't incentivized to RDA. 3 is not hard at all in 15 minutes but encourages police to be out on the streets going for the arrest.)

Not only can we add new jobs that incentivize and reward player interaction, we can adjust the ones that currently don't.

It was a past problem with even RetributionRP, I consider it a cancer to DarkRP. When we're buffing and pushing players into jobs like bitcoin miner where you just afk and don't ever leave your base, that is the most boring garrys mod experience ever. Yesterday we had 40 people on and only had maybe 5-10 people actually out of their bases on the streets. Not because people want to be inside their base instead of having fun interacting with others, but because they NEED to if they wanna make any sort of money whatsoever.

I've always encouraged pushing players to get out of their bases and go interact with each other. Right now I'd say people spend 8/10 of their time in their base and 2/10 of it outside before going right back in. Even just rationalizing that number to somewhere around 50/50 would be far better for the server

  6. I can’t find the rule but I’m fairly certain there is or at least was a rule stating that there’s no NLR area when dying to a hit man completing a hit. Meaning you can’t revenge rdm or remember it happened, but can return to where you died and freely go about your day.

When a hit man completes a hit, that’s it. The rp situation is over. There’s 0 reason whatsoever someone wouldn’t be allowed to come back to where they died after dying to a hit. That situations over.

However, returning to the hit man that killed you and then randomly warning him in advert so you can kill him is NLR and Revenge RDM.

Dreadnaught you were clearly in the wrong for breaking the rules to Revenge RDM. Or at the minimum, you loopholed the warn rule to return to where you died and kill the person who killed you. Staff shouldn’t be loopholing rules regardless, it sets a really bad example.

I’ve said it time and time again but 80% of these staff reports are the result of staff thinking it’s okay to take their own sits. @Jouaram are you currently allowing staff to just freely take their own sits and inadvertently cause this many bias situations?

  7. What the hell did you do to form an angry mob of a Citizen, Gun Dealer, Medic, and 2 Thieves??? As a city worker????

Did you tell them you wouldn't fix their sink or something bro you're a menace to society

Pls explain what and how it was poorly ju handled

Well, I'll post it again since you missed it.

-I don't like how you muted him, and the second he was unmuted he said 1 thing that you didn't like so you gave him 6x the punishment as the last one. For one, you should go to a sit to talk to him and actually resolve the issue instead of saying "Have a problem with it? Here have another mute. Huh that didn't work and you still don't like it? Uhhhh.. another much longer mute!"

You did absolutely NOTHING to actually handle or resolve the situation. Only were lazy and kept muting him instead of taking the time to actually have a conversation with the dude.

And if Victus was on, why did you take your own sit? Staff should never take their own sits It's a horrible idea especially if you have other staff active that can be a 3rd party. Using your powers to punish those who break rules against you is not what a staff member should be doing at ALL.

It leads to bias situations that are easily avoidable. If a 3rd party staff member were taking the sit instead of you taking your own sit, do you think he would have still received 3 rapid fire warns over the same incident?

You took the smallest incident possible and gave 3 warns over it that are just straight dumb tbh

I have absolutely nothing to hide, however this happened quite awhile ago, so any chat is in deep logs...

I definitely was not the one "throwing a fit" in this scenario lol

I didn't have a fun, I was either staffing sits or doing something RP at the time, and I very much doubt killing would stop her from just coming back and doing it again

The only reason this became an issue at all is because I was at low hp at one point and doeuy nearly RDM me

I don't have a problem with Douey being punished, Douey was in the wrong in this situation. However I very strongly dislike how you handled the situation and how you went about it. I made an edit in my original comment as you posted this if you want to refer to that.

Although punishing was justified, that doesn't take away of how extremely poorly you handled this situation.

    1. Kidnapping, theft and harming another player are illegal.
    2. Shooting in public is illegal.

These are 2 basic Laws of the land on the MOTD. If you are breaking these with your toy gun it is law regardless.

I'm gonna give my take on this:

Starting with what I quoted above, what is a default law that is to be enforced by PD in-game and what is a rule that the staff enforce are two entirely different things. Using a law PD enforces as justification of staff action is highly incorrect.

    Douey:

-Any amount of damage no matter how small or big is still damage. If you are going around randomly damaging players, that is against the rules and staff can punish you for it.

-Toy Guns are toys that you can shoot around randomly with or mess around with those who are your friends or that you know would be cool with it. Not to just go around randomly shooting everyone you see. That 100% classifies you as a minge

-If you are asked to stop several times, just stop. That's like a teacher telling a student "If you touch Jacob again you are going to the principals office" and then you touch Jacob again right after being told not to then get shocked when you get sent to the principals office. If someone tells you not to do something and you do it anyways, why complain about the consequences? Just weird to me

    Dreadnaught:

-Can I see the chat logs? I'm sure the warns and mutes are justified but I've been playing long enough to know that when something this small escalates this much, it almost always has to do with escalation or antagonization from a staff member. I want to see how the staff team was responding to what he was saying in chat.

-It's a 1 damage gun. Was it really worth all this trouble? I highly highly support the old rule we used to have on RetributionRP where RDM x1 was allowed in the rules but was illegal meaning small petty RDM x1 sits would get handled by the police arresting for it, not handled by staff. Which would be very efficient if Jouaram added my suggestion of having a witness system. Similar to how you can't rape swep if someone is nearby but instead, that same radius that it detects someone is nearby, would act as a witness to a murder and would automatically make you wanted if you murder. That means to not get auto wanted for murder, you have to do it in a secluded area with no witnesses. This would not mark you if the other person damaged you first.

-Got side tracked but in that last one I was making the point of, if he damages you, just kill him 4head. While although you're justified to throw a fit about it and were allowed to punish him for it, his gun does 1 damage. Pull out ANY gun at all and kill him if he shoots you, problem solved.

-Him saying he did not know about receiving any type of previous warning, you should be bringing him to a sit and addressing him properly while warning instead of saying 1 thing in OOC that he may miss and then using that against him later. That's super inefficient. You can't be lazy in staff scenarios, you need to take the time to actually have a sit with the person.

You did absolutely NOTHING to actually handle or resolve the situation. Only were lazy and kept muting him instead of taking the time to actually have a conversation with the dude.

    Jouaram:

-I would recommend either making the gun do more damage such as 5, or making it do 0 damage. 1 damage is kind of weird and is in the middle. You should decide if you want it to do no damage, or to do low damage but still some.

-I highly highly support the old rule we used to have on RetributionRP where RDM x1 was allowed in the rules but was illegal meaning small petty RDM x1 sits would get handled by the police arresting for it, not handled by staff. +1

playermodels are at about 36-37mb total though

Yeah but that's for the playermodels of 6 jobs which is about 6 mb each. 36 mb really isn't that much and doesn't make much of a difference. Most servers have content sizes of like 10x the amount we have on Aether. We've been tip toeing around with our content size and basically have no content size so I think it would be worth sacrificing some space for content people would enjoy. The reason most servers sacrifice slightly longer load times is because there's more content to keep people on for longer.

  12. Describe your suggestion: The recent update with cuffs and nightstick are really really good and great progress towards making PD overall fun and viable to play so with that being said, I want to give some more ideas on how we can roll that snowball. These are mainly quality of life changes.

    1.

Please spread out PD's utility. They are currently all under #2 and it is a clusterfuck. Hard to get to what you need to use. As a cop, switching weapons is ESSENTIAL because you are switching between gun, arrest baton, handcuffs, and nightstick. The harder it is to switch to these, the harder it is to do your job.

    VZF3DN3.png

    2.

Majority of the PD jobs are useless and desperately need upgrades to their kits.

EX: Swat has the strongest gun by far (MP7) and it outclasses any gun any of the other PD jobs get even the Swat Leader's kit. When the Swat has 5x a better kit (4 person job) than a Swat Leader's kit (1 person job in charge of swat) then something is wrong. I would either put the G36C on the Swat and swap the MP7 over to the Swat Leader, or find a better gun to give to swat leader.

Change job from Police Medic to Swat Medic:

Swat Medic - Please for the love of god give him an armor kit. This is one of the most useless jobs in the game because all he can do is heal yet he gets outhealed by EVERY single healing form in the game. Giving an armor kit would make him very useful.

*Also give him a close range gun (not one of the best but an okay close range weapon such as a UMP45) the current gun is useless*

Add SWAT Sniper - [VIP Only]

As a SWAT Sniper your main job is to set up on a vantage point and then focus on taking down high priority targets. (The only targets you may KOS are active threats that are shooting in public, attacking someone, harming your fellow police, or raiding. You may not KOS for laws broken or for laws that do not make them an active threat.)

*Would have a sniper kit with a pistol as a secondary*

    Police Trainee -

This job can be made more fun by having goals or missions automatically assigned to you. Any sort of mission or objective for you would be completing training which would reward you with money and XP. Completing training as a police trainee is repeatable, an officer can never have enough training.

    Secret Service -

This jobs is VERY weak especially for someone who is supposed to be guarding the mayor directly. I would give them a Saiga for close range encounters, and give them some sort of reward for defending the mayor. EX: cash bonus for every person killed in PD who has a weapon/tool out.

Add Job: Juggernaut - [VIP Only]

As a Juggernaut you move at half the speed of everyone else making you very slow and easy to hit. However, you can have double the HP as everyone else (300 instead of 150) and may get 75 more armor (200 instead of 125). Although you get a lot of HP and Armor, you being slow makes it super easy to evade you and makes you an easy target to hit. Kit would include basic PD kit along with an LMG (While holding LMG you move EVEN slower so you are practically forced standing still while shooting.)

    3.

PLEASE readd the /911 command where when used, will ping your location for other officers. This was one of the best features I had seen on any server and was used all the time. Not sure why it was removed by any form of it added back would be great. Basically if you found contrabands in a base, you type /911 and fellow officers will see your location and can run over to it.

    4.

Handcuffed players and wanted players should not need to be arrested from behind. It is very annoying and could lead to situations that have already frustrated me like this one:

    5.

Replace the default models. Custom models are more fun, more unique, and more engaging. Having the same default models is boring and lazy. I think we should revamp them and give them all a new look.

    Juggernaut PM: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1728318045&searchtext=swat

    Swat Medic PM: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=892493593&searchtext=swat

Swat PM (Love this model): https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2179989636&searchtext=night+hawk

    Swat Sniper PM: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2439063388&searchtext=swat

Police / Police Trainee PM: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1223337299&searchtext=Police

Most of these are relatively small file size but some are a bit bigger. However it is 100% worth it. People have been asking for a long time for new and better models.

How will this improve the quality of Aether?: All of these changes will have a multitude of positive effects on Aether.

  13. A good alternative would be just making all PMs a separate color like how party messages are but in a different color. There used to be a !p command that would be the same as pm but would change the colors so your message stood out more. I agree having normal messages blend in with messages meant for you isn’t great.

  14. Honestly if a staff member I did not like was minging and standing out my base mic spamming non stop I wouldn't be happy about it. He's made a report on one of you in the past, you guys know he isn't fond of you but still sat outside of his base trolling him and spamming as staff which isn't the best image. Someone reports you so you stand outside their base mic spamming to annoy them.

In situations like these where staff are messing around it is very important that you actually know the people you're messing around with and are sure that they are okay with it. If you are messing around with people who don't know or like you, it looks very bad for the staff team.

I don’t think that’s true because you can always place a hit on them and it’s not like the mayor can just base elsewhere because it would be breaking the rules if they did.

It's not basing elsewhere. It's hiding. Which mayors do very often. As for hitmen there's not always hitmen on or they could fail. Shouldn't need to rely on someone else for something you want.
