some people seem to have trouble doing this ive noticed in the past and i understand some players may not be as advanced with certain tools but ive prepared a rough clip to show the easiest way in my opinion how to make a "ladder" with gear props. E-Z Ladder Tutorial.mp4 In the clip you will see the gears are directly vertical to the nearest 90 or right angle, you can achieve this by gripping your props with your physics gun as shown, and then pressing SHIFT + E and or holding these keys to maintain this, and moving your mouse till the prop is in the desired position. this can also be achieved by using the "Apply" mode of the precision tool with the box checked that reads: WHILE THE PROP IS somewhat close to the desired position and it will snap to the nearest 45 degree angle. "Precision" tool is selected first in the "Move" mode in order to place the prop against the flat wall. this is only suggested if you would like to have your ladder against a wall it is not a requirement. Once the gear prop is in the desired location and position, the next step is to switch your Precision tool mode #2 "Rotate". I like to have my rotation snap degree at the lowest setting on the slider () as the prop does not need to be moved much in order for the gear to work well as a ladder. As shown in the video the gear is ever so slightly turned from the top point of the prop and as you can see i am able to walk up against this prop very quickly with no issue. Furthermore this prop can be pushed into the wall or other prop depending on where you place your gears at up to about 90% of the props location in order to save any extra space as you can see below the gear is very slightly rotated and actually pushed at 99/100 on the default slider and i have no problem walking up it even though more than half of the prop is behind the plate/wall: @Angel Dust
