Hmmmm. I dunno about the basing rules you propose the first one is already a rule. The second one isn't terrible but I think just a max number of turns like on ret would be best. And third one isn't hard to counter and people raid through it easily all the time.

    • One-way shooting window fading doors that activate transparent/not-one way can be shot through once activated.

It's not a rule. The rule says that you CAN shoot through one way shooting windows while they're faded

  2. For around 3-4 years now I've enjoyed working with people and coming up with ways to better the server and make potential improvements. One of the great things about Garry's Mod is that there's always ways to improve and expand no matter where your server stands. This will be a long list and hopefully these are taken seriously because this is going to take a very long time to make. ALL of these ideas are my own and they are obviously open to be changed. These are just raw ideas. I've been having fun on Aether as a player so I would like to do what I can to take Aether to the next level.

This is a very long list so please read all the way through and scroll all the way down.

    Skill Tree:

Starting off strong, this is something I have talked about with Jouaram in the past that I think would take Aether to the next level entirely. I personally have never seen a DarkRP server with this system and this could make our server shine bright amongst the others.

The skill tree would make levels meaningful. As you level up you receive skill points and if you reach level 100, you are able to prestige. These buffs would vary so refer to my list below.

What does prestiging do? Prestiging would be achieved after reaching max level and would allow you to start over back at level 1, but with an additional permanent buff. For example:
    -Prestige 1 = Permanent +5 HP

    -Prestige 2 = Permanent +2 Speed

-Prestige 3 = 5% permanent increase in money earned

    ETC.

What would some of the skills be? Well the way the skill tree would work, there would be different categories to invest your points into such as a Vendor skill tree, a Government skill tree, a Criminal skill tree, a Medic skill tree, ETC. Starting off at tier 1, the skills in that tree would only cost 1 skill point. As you move up, you would get to stronger abilities that require more skill points to acquire. For example, the best skill in a skill tree may cost 5 skill points to purchase after also getting the 3 skills below it.

    Skills in the skill tree:

(All skill trees would have areas in them that would give universal things such as +2 speed, +5 HP, ETC.)

    *Medic:*

Medical Expertise - Top of a medic skill tree (As medic/swat medic / crazed doctor you can purchase bacta grenades which can be thrown for Area of Effect splash healing)

Juggernaut - Spawn with full armor each respawn (Top of the skill tree)

Born to heal - Each tick of health that you heal has a 25% chance to double that tick of healing due to medical experience

Rejuvination - If you have not taken damage for 5 seconds, you start to passively regenerate 2 HP every second.

    *Combat:*

Survivalist - Last Stand (Top of the combat skill tree, when you get killed you get knocked down and after 5-10 seconds if no one finishes you off, you stand back up with 10 HP)

Melee Enthusiast - All weapons swing 1.5x faster

Melee Agony - All melee weapons apply affliction after a successful hit causing an additional 10 damage per second for 3 seconds

Quickdraw - Switch weapons faster ( Can help switching between weapon and handcuffs / arrest baton / lockpick)

Grenade Specialist - (Top of the combat tree most likely) Flashbangs no longer collide with props allowing you to flashbang the inside of a base

    *Government:*

Criminal Justice - Top of CP skill tree See wanted players through walls as they glow with a red auora

Crippling Power - Each bullet you shoot has a 5% chance to slow a player's movement for 2 seconds

Power in Government - The mayor's vault fills up 10% faster while playing mayor due to you having connections

No I in team - Weapon packages you purchase for your government as mayor come with randomized attachments on them

Officer of the Month - Gain an additional 30% XP for every wanted person you arrest

Brotherhood - When an officer gets damaged, other officers can see their red aura through walls briefly for 1 second before it disappears. (If you kill a cop, get out before backup arrives.)

I'm Onto Something - Contraband Scanner range increased by 10%

    *Job Specialist:*

Weapon Specialist - Weapons you spawn as a gun dealer can come with attachments on them / some attachments unobtainable (Top of the skilltree would be good for gun dealers)

Hobo Champion - 10% increased chance for loot to spawn while searching dumpsters

Meth Head - 5% chance for each meth that spawns to get lucky with a perfect batch doubling the money of that one tip jar (When they pick up the 1 jar it would count it as 2)

Meth Heat - 25% Less likely to have your equipment explode

Bitcoin Specialist - Each time you collect from your bitminers, you receive an additional 20% XP (Great way to XP farm)

Eagle Eye - (High on the skill tree) While on a hitman type job, you will see your target glow red through the walls one time every 5 seconds.

Track Star - While on the dwarf job your speed is increased by 10%

Loyal Worker - The more items you fix within a certain time frame, the more likely you are to receive an additional 50% XP for fixing parts of the city as a city worker

Hotel Frenzy - For each door owned by another player in a hotel you own, you gain an additional 10% XP per player every 1 minute

Night Club BOOMIN - Gain an additional 5% XP for each player in your night club.

    *Crime:*

Printing Expertise - Money printers have a 10% chance to malfunction each tick and print twice the money for that tick on that printer

Power to the mob - As mob boss you gain an additional 10% XP for each player in your mob, and each player that is in the mob gets 5% additional XP for each player

Black Market Efficiency - Each item you purchase as a black market dealer has a 10% chance to give you a 10% discount on the item you purchased due to efficiency allowing you to make more profit on purchases

Grubby Hands - As cigarette smuggler, each time you die you have a 40% chance to only drop 50% of the cigarettes you are carrying after dying

Rage - While lockpicking or keypad cracking, you enter rage mode and all damage taken is decreased by 50% until you stop lockpicking/keypad cracking

Defensive Authority - While playing as a guard, you deal 10% extra damage when attacking someone who is on a property you own (Has to co-own the door)

Professional Banker - As banker you can spawn a booster similar to police scanner except for every printer inside of the booster, the printing speed gets increased by 5% for each printer inside (so if you use a banker, your printer will make more money)

Born to be an Assassin - Awards an extra 30% XP for killing a player from behind.

    Raiding/Basing:

This has been a massive problem with Aether since the beginning. We try very hard to deter from having a long constitution of basing rules so that leads to unfun and stale gameplay when it comes to defending or attacking a base. I have always preached that we should encourage but not force people to play in a certain way. I have always believed this can be done with utility.

However there are still 3 crucial rules that we need to add to contribute to a more fun experience.

-No one-way shooting windows. If you have any type of shooting window, you must be able to see through both sides.

-If you have a turn in your base, it must lead to a keypad door or an exit. (No turns that lead to more turns.)

-You may only have no-collided props in RP Only bases. People running back and forth through no collided props, particularly one-way nocollided props, is insane and shouldn't be a part of any meta in any video game. Extremely unbalanced and overpowered. It also just doesn't make sense to have in a base.

That means if people want turn bases, they can have 3-4 turns max which is still strong, but counterable and not completely broken.

    Utility:

    EMP Grenade (0.004 MB)https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1775203882&searchtext=emp+grenade

This is already in the server as I requested but nothing has been done with it. This is a utility where once it detonates, it does 0 damage to players but opens up any type of fading door. It is FULLY customizable for Jouaram to edit the range it opens doors and duration in which it opens doors. This would be a good counter mainly for chucking it at shooting windows so that defenders don't have the button advantage. The window would stay open for a period of time.

    Solrob's Grenades (1.6 MB)https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1926304694

This addon includes all of the following grenades:

Antigravity - Makes things float and then fall to the ground.
    Bounce - It bounces.
Cesium - Explodes in water. Not needed
Cluster - Makes a cluster of explosions.
Energy - Disintegrates things. Not needed
Flare - Hold or throw to emit light. Not needed
Homing - Flies to an NPC or player and explodes. Not needed
    Impact - Explodes on impact.
Incendiary - Sets things on fire.
    Lightning - Electrocutes things.
Mine - Sticks to a surface and explodes when somebody walks near it.
Orb - Shoots some combine orbs. Not needed
Radiation - Emits radiation for a while before disappearing.
    Repulsion - Launches nearby objects.
Shot - Shoots a bunch of bullets in a sphere. Not needed
Singularity - Pulls nearby objects in and explodes.
Sticky - Sticks to objects and explodes.
Stun - Spins anybody nearby around and stuns NPCs. This is a very very good grenade to add. When hit with this grenade, it is a stun grenade. So it moves your crosshair straight down at the floor but you can instantly look back up. It essentially is just a VERY short stun duration that distracts enemies.

(All of these amazing grenades for only 1.6 MB is an absolute STEAL. Some great Are of Effect grenades as well so you can control an area or choke point.)

Cluster Charge and ADS (3.6 MB)https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1841295723

Here is a video that demonstrates it if you are more of a visual learner: https://youtu.be/CKPb-i6285E

Basically, this is Fuse's ability from Rainbow Six Siege. You put it on any wall or door and it will shoot grenades out on the otherside. AMAZING for breaching. You can use it on the ceiling above their base, the wall outside, underneath, anywhere.

But that's OP!  - It would be if there were no counterpart, however this amazing addon ALSO comes with a Jager device. This device when placed, will destroy any grenade thrown in its vicinity. If you place these smartly around your base, it will completely disintegrate around 3 grenades before the device gets destroyed and disappears. This means, although it won't block ALL grenades, it will block enough for you to be aware that they are using grenades, and allow you to reposition.

    Events:

-Make the Event Crate give XP, Aether Bucks, and a random crate. Instead of having an OP crate that has every good item that is in the game, have it just give them a random crate that is currently in the game. For example, I press E on the event crate and get XP, some Aether Bucks, and a Vape Crate. And next time it gets me the XP, Aether Bucks, and an Aether Crate instead. Who knows, anything to make it more reasonable. Also getting XP from events is a great way to give XP.

-I've suggested before, the code used that colors players for the event participant jobs, is very bad. It's SUPER buggy. Any time a player respawns they lose their color or change their color to the other team. (EX: If I die as a red event participant, when I respawn I will still be on the red job, but will be colored blue.)

Here is a GREAT addon that includes different colored halo player models that would be 10x better for events. I personally went and checked their hitbox and the hitboxes are normal, overall a great replacement for these event jobs. Also MUCH more color options for if we run a 3 person royale or anything where there's more than 2 teams.

    https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=928875786&searchtext=Red+vs+Blue

-Here is an addon that would be absolutely AMAZING for events. These utility pads, you walk over them and they give you the coordinated utility. An ammo pad will give a player max ammo for the weapon they are holding, a health pad will heal a player for 100 HP, an armor pad will give some armor, the speed pad will give the player a slight speed boost for 3 seconds, the jump pad will give the player increased jump height for 3 seconds, ETC. These effects work amazing and I've done a lot of testing myself. The file size is small and these would be incredible for events. Possibilities are endless.

    Jobs:

These are a list of jobs that I came up with. (Some were put into production for Retribution but the server ended before we could finish producing them.)

Lone Ranger - This jobs has amazing utility as ex military who was dishonorably discharged and now works alone. While on this job, you physically can not join parties or team with anyone. You are on your own and can raid, steal, mug, kidnap, any criminal activity. (Equipment spawned with: Pro lockpick, Pro keypad cracker, M107, EMP Grenade, MP7, Mug SWEP, medical syringe [Refer to job changes below, Medical Syringe should be nerfed.])

    Model: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1129501756&searchtext=armor

Bounty Hunter - This is another hitman type job with a twist. You do not get your bounties from players. Instead, there is a board with automatically generated bounties for you to collect. Anyone can view the board to see who there is a bounty for and how much the bounty is. As a Bounty Hunter, you will check the board for these automated bounties and when one appears, you go for it.

    Model: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=218868084&searchtext=heavy

    Job Changes:

Swat Medic and Medic both need an armor kit given back. They should also be able to heal for more than max HP. EX: If max HP is 150, they should be able to heal up to 175. and if Armor is 100, they should be able to give up to 125. On top of that, their healing should be given at a slow rate so that you have to be out of a fight and a bit more vulnerable while healing. No left click with an armor kit for an instant 50 armor. Make them very slow and overtime.

On top of that, Medical Syringe and Medical Vape are brokenly overpowered. It needs a massive change.
I propose: Make it give 50 HP and then the other 50 they gain through the passive healing of 2 HP per second BUT if they get damaged, they lose that heal over time buff from it. It will ALSO be consumed on use. If you have the permanent version, you spawn with it but after you use it, you do not get another one until you respawn.

Medic jobs are useless when they get outhealed by EVERY single other heal in the game even though their entire purpose and priority is to heal. They are useless. The ONLY types of heals that should be in the game, are slow heals that require you to be vulnerable while using. And should not be able to compete with the heals provided by professional medics.

I have a bind for the syringe and a bind for a knife so literally in the current meta, I can syringe spam to survive absolutely anyone shooting me, then just stab them. When any gun in the game is outclassed by a syringe and knife, that is sad and boring.

Grapples need a serious nerf. - Max velocity with grapples needs to be cut in half maybe more. Grapple can not only get you places that people without them can't get to, but they also allow you to fly at lightspeed. If you max out the velocity so that they can't go that fast, grapples will still be MUCH faster than walking on foot but won't be insanely overpowered. You should move MUCH slower while grappling. Shooting at someone then having them be across the map in 1 second because of how OP grapples are is very frustrating and shouldn't be in the game. Make it so grapples get you to high ground and make you faster than people on foot, but kick it down 100 notches bro

  3. +1

The way you're responding to some of these makes it questionable because I can without a doubt see you butting heads with staff members, especially higher ups who tell you what you are doing is wrong.

However, you seem pretty mature outside of that and a trial phase is where everything will come to light.

Rather than saying "If", "You might", "Maybe", etc, trial moderators are looked at closely and the whole point of a trial phase is seeing what you do with an opportunity. All of these "potential" problems will shine like a night light if they arise during your trial phase. I think the best thing is to put people into a trial phase, and see if the suspected problems illuminate during that period. If they do, it is easy to deal with.

I had waited a while before removing the base to see if he did, and it was not removed, so as it was an illegal base where he had no intent on fixing it and instead arguing it was removed.

What you stated where you quoted yourself, that is completely false. There have been numerous instances where I came to Jouaram about questionable bases that were grey areas but considering they were not directly against the rules in any way, 100% of the time we let the base stand until clarification was made or rules were updated. Throughout Ret and Aether we have never punished the player base for taking advantage of "Grey areas" that we created ourselves. That is our problem we created that when they abuse it, they point it out to us and it gets fixed.

As for the last part of what you said, I meant patient in terms of coming to any sort of conclusion before deciding whether the base is illegal and getting confirmation if it is a unique scenario where you need help.

  5. Just passing through cause it has been a while so figured I would give my perspective on this.

The base in question does not break any rules. While it is overpowered and SHOULD be against the rules, it currently is not. And that is up to Jouaram to update the rules where this will be illegal. Such as "Shooting through any type of one-way is prohibited"

However considering something like this arises a lot of issues from players in terms of complaints, I don't blame Janet at all for trying to get rid of what many people deem unfun. I think that is him just trying to help the player base which is what a staff member should be doing.

    What I think should happen:

-Warn is removed because it is a 100% legal base so the warn is invalid.

-Rule is added making shooting through any sort of one-way against the rules

What should happen in the future:

-Janet should be a bit more patient and provide a picture with what he is referring to in order to avoid confusion. (He went off of one thing that a staff member told him but considering what he told the higher up was incorrect stating no one could shoot back even though they actually could.)

-Laugh should be more understanding of Janet's viewpoint. You stated yourself that you've had 20+ reports on your base so you can understand why he would want to come to some sort of resolution in order to stop those.

It was a bit of a tricky situation but could have been handled better on both parts.

  6. I will still hop on Aether every now and then as a player, but in terms of staffing and events my time has come to an end.

I'm not gonna get into why I am resigning and have not been really telling anyone who asks because it doesn't matter tbh, I have my reasons and felt as if it was my time to go. I will be spending my free time doing other things for other communities but I wish you all the best and hopefully Jouaram can continue working off of what him and I had planned.

    +VERY active

+Persisted for over a month now with multiple applications

+From what I've seen, I think you genuinely want to help

    -Some answers are wrong

-You can struggle sometimes with the rules.

I would support you joining the staff team as a Trial Moderator as I think you have earned the chance at a trial period. You will be watched closely by other staff, so considering your personality is staff material, I think with some mentoring / learning you could be good.

  8. They did well with it this time.

On ret store you could buy perm weapons that were OP / Meta, Custom printers to make a ton of money, custom classes to get the most OP class, etc

On Aether pretty much everything you buy is purely cosmetic. Not much pay to win, also doesn't favor regulars over new players because there aren't OP perm weapons that new players can't get ahold of. Now everyone can acquire the same weapons and attachments.

Gun play feels very good on Aether, some guns could be buffed for a bigger variety pool but that's about it.

  9. Please try to follow this format:

From what I read of what you do have, it does seem like a tricky situation. I don't think a warn is necessary but I don't blame Xrel for warning you. Seems like unfortunate timing where neither side was at fault. You technically did break NLR but I can understand your frustration at that moment. In the future just try to reach a staff first instead of typing a short ticket as you're on your way back and breaking NLR.

As for the context of this being a staff report, like I said I don't think Xrel did anything wrong, this is a situation where depending on the staff member, it could lean either way. However like I said I would also support the appeal of your warn.

    +Knows the rules

    +Staff experience

-Just started playing Aether I believe for the first time yesterday (at least the DarkRP server)

-I've seen you multiple times troll new players in the discord. When they ask for help you give them sarcastic answers and they leave or end up not getting any help.

If I see you put more time in to show that this is something you actually want rather than just you being bored, you would have my support.

Also keep in mind that there's a lot of changes in both rules and the way we staff compared to Retribution. Also a bit of a difference in community as well. I would familiarize yourself with the changes, as well as continue playing so that newer players not from ret can get to know you.

+ i get it that you wanted to chill and talk with people but that doesn't give you a reason to cheat on the server

    - you still cheated but i think the ban should be less than a week, i still heavily believe you should wait out the ban

A cheating ban is a permanent not a 1 week.

    -1

I won't support you coming back to the server. We have nothing to gain and a whole lot to lose by letting you come back considering you cheating can ruin the experience for so many people. Especially THIS soon after your ban, I find it hard to believe you took the time to get and use cheats just so u can promise not to use them anymore.

  12. You saying you've changed and have been improving is an utter lie.

I woke up to reports from players that while there were no staff online you chose to:

    -Prop Minge

-Prop Abuse (Placing props outside people's bases with the world glow material to see inside their base)

-Raid a base that had a building sign

-Camp out a base that was building telling them they can only have it back if they give you their base dupe.

I got sent proof of all of this, and I don't believe this is even what you were banned for so the fact that you broke OTHER rules and got banned for it is kind of amusing.

You say here that you're asking for another chance but we have given you multiple chances at this point and none seem to stick. Hopefully this ban will cause some behavioral changes.

Thats a lot of moneys for the skulls but I would love to make something like this for the server, sounds like some simple lua, if Jouaram is busy and trusts me writing the addon I would love

That’s because I was saying they’d need to kill 3 people before turning in any money and if they died before reaching 3 they’d get nothing so it’s kinda risky
